The Essential Jerry Reed

Rating: 100%

jerryreedIf you’re into Jerry Reed or looking for an album with most of his hits, look no further than The Essential Jerry Reed. This CD has a collection of twenty of Jerry’s best and most noted songs from his forty-nine album catalog. This CD collection defines who Jerry Reed was as an artist, singer, songwriter and guitarist. Chet Atkins may have discovered Jerry Reed, but Jerry Reed I think surpassed Chet in his style of playing.

Some songs contain humor like “Another Puff”, “The Bird” and others are ballots such as “I Love You, What Can I Say.” Others like the “The Claw” showcase his style of pickin’ on the guitar.

Musically, the album is solid. There isn’t a single song on this collection that I would fast forward on. There’s a nice mix of musical styles from “Guitar Man” to “East Bound and Down.”  The sound quality is very good. I usually steer away from greatest hits or best of albums unless there are rare tracks on the record or the artist’s catalog of music isn’t what I like, but some of the songs I do like. For the Essential Jerry Reed, it was a must.
